Getting snagged with braided line

Hey all, What do you all do when you get snagged real good with braided lines? Because with mono, usually I can just pull on the line until it breaks at the knot or whatnot, but with these superlines, what do you do to break your line when you get snagged? I would think just cutting the line would really waste a ton of line and leave your spools looking empty. The places I get snagged are often in highly inaccessible areas that are 30+ feet away from the boat. Thanks for your help.

Well when I get snagged with braid the first thing I do is lift up on the rod, go side to side, anything to get that hook to pop out of the snag. Â*Sometimes just by orienting the line at a different angle you can get the hook to fall out. Â*If that doesn't work, point directly at the snag and pull very, very hard and either the line will break or the snag will sometimes come to the boat (this will cause the line to dig in more or less into the spool, keep that in mind). Â*If that doesn't work and you cant get to the hangup, then as a last resort you have to cut the line. Â*

Dude with no word of a lie I pull the boat across to the snag half the time, and on ocation have straightened out hooks pulling soo hard! You might want to invest in a hook puller/ or snag puller I think the guys could point out the site for ya youll never lose another bait again.

I only flip or pitch no more than 15 ft away from the boat with braided line . I have never got snagged that I couldn't pull the jig out. Sometimes you straighten the hook out unsnagging it but if you pull hard enough it will pop loose. ;D P N J

WTL,

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER point your rod at the snag and "Pull like hell !" That is the quickest way to warp the spool on your reel. Then you might as well take it off the rod and throw it in the lake.
One of the best ways to get a hook loose with braided line is to pull slightly on the rod with the tip pointed up, just enough of a pull to bow the rod slightly. Then grab the line between the reel and the first guide and pull it out like you were drawing a bow and release it. Do this 15 or 20 times in rapid succession and the hook should dislodge.
If the former trick does not dislodge the hook, release the thumb button and let out a little line. Take this slack line and wrap it around a wooden stick, a knife handle, a towel around your hand or something that you can get a good pull on, set your feet and pull. The line will break somewhere, and you will not damage your rod or reel.

i break the line. i try everything possible that i can do and if nothing works, i pull like hell using the method jack posted.

i have a 6" chunk of steel pipe i wrap the braid around it a couple of times hit the tm and hang on i have broke many hooks this way.

So you tie it off to the cleat and power the big motor up ? I ain't so sure I have got a big enough motor to break 50lb Tuf -Line XP.That tin tub of mine would probably sit there and flog the hell out of the water before the line even thought about breakng. ;D P N J

do you guys woud have lure retrievers. this is what i use, a tackleback. run it down the line & hook it on to the lure, pull the whole lot free. i have mine attatched to some heavy cord, strong & easy on the hands.

I'm glad you told me that Jackl. I've never warped a spool, and we both know that what I suggested is commonly done by everyone, but yall are right anyways, wrapping it around a pipe first would be better all around anyways (line wont dig in either).

Wrap the line w/ a stick.....pull really, really, really hard. She'll come loose.

you hook it onto your line, then holding your line taught, grab the the cord & let it slide down untill it reaches the lure. it will then hook onto your lure. pull on the cord. unless you have incredibly strong hooks it either straightens them or pulls the lot loose ( which usually happens) saving line & lure..

Definately tie it to something away from the rod. The braid WILL dig into your guides if you try to pull it out like a big fish. The stick, cleat, pipe(who the heck carries a pipe on their boat ???) will all work. Watch you face and eyes, and make sure your fishing partners know what you're doing.
