yeah and it only gets worse, or better depending on how you look at it! but be glad it's this and not some of the bad things that consume so many peoples lives. i am a lucky guy though, most wives will complain or throw a fit. my wife never says no and a lot of the time she goes with me.

I used to spend my money on booze and drugs, got in alot of trouble with the law and was forced to quit that sh*t. I took up fishing and never looked back. If you want to be better than the average Joe who fishes, understand that there is no substitute for time spent out on the water. If you don't want to spend time learning to fish, rather than do something else with your friends, limit your tackle spending now, you most likely could use the extra money to do whatever you like doing. PNG don't worry.....I spend so much time fishing small lakes instead of working to get a boat...... I think to further my fishing I need to do this....I think what I want to do is do more tournies.....I feel I would learn more doing them than just farting around at the pond.

You now have the fishermans version of a consience living with you. This little guy is known as the bait monkey, and like a conscience, is ocassionally irritating, but there for you own good.

Dude, it's called a passion about something, and like my friend Ivan, I too, was a deviant, and now, well, I'm still a deviant, but of a different sort

Nope, you are not alone. I know exactly how you feel. And apparently so do many others.

Its cost me for years. If not for fishing I might be somewhere right now, as is...New York, Washington DC, Phoenix and so many other good places for new graduates are off my list...I MUST find a career near some good bass.

well I just got a new combo tonight....50 bucks..I got a shakespear IM 6 rod at wally and a extant pinnacle baitcaster.....I thought it was a pretty good deal considering...it's really light...I haven't fished with either before but I have heard good things about the rod and people say the reels are decent...we will have to see how they work tomarrow..lol.

yeah it looks like it's durable...I was comparing it to a mega tournament by bps when I was looking it over....I think it's a little better because it's got a bait keeper...I like those a lot....I look for stuff to last more than sensitivity....I don't think I get anymore on a 150 dollar rod than one that is decent

I got this from Bassintom a couple years back:

Fisherman For Life

I am a fisherman for life.
I will always be a fisherman.
It's not something I do,
It is who I am.
Fishing is not an escape.
It is where I belong,
Where I am supposed to be.
It is not a place,
but a lifelong journey.
It is a passage my father showed me,
and that I will show others.
When you understand all of this,
you will know me,
and we will fish together.

I thought that was pretty good description!
