Default Hooks for Plastics

Hey all. I'm goin' to Bass Pro today. I'm gonna get some plastics and hooks. How can you tell what hooks you need for the plastic? By the length?

-Baby Paca Craw
-2.5" Gitzit Tube

Thanks-

Julien

Baby Paca craws-a 2/0 or 3/0 EWG hook. I use a 3/0

2.5" Gitzit-that's a small bait. I'd go with a 1/4 oz. jighead with a wire weedguard. If you go with a 3.5 or 4" I'd use a 2/0 EWG hook.

For the baby pacas get 3/0 EWG hooks. For the tubes get 1/16 ounce to 1/4 ounce jigheads.

Man you guys use small hooks for those Baby Paca's. I use a 4/0 EWG Gammy and texpose it. Works much better on the hooksets IMO.

Thanks for all of your bait suggestions in earlier threads. I went and spent $50 with a gift card. I only had about 40 minutes to shop, so I was rushed. Here are pictures of what I bought: http://www.flickr.com/photos/74201270@N00/

Thanks Reb. I feel good about what I chose.

I have a lot of chances to fish from the bank at my nearest lake, but not with a boat. I know that the bass go deeper in the winter. Would a bass wander off to shore in almost freezing weather? It's just a bad combination, because I can't fish the deep when the fish are deep.

Also, when rigging a jig with a chunk, do you just rig it in the middle of the chunk with the little bumps on the plastic facing toward the hook point?
