welcome to the forum! getting sponsors is hardr than you think, they dont just let you put their name on your shirt and use their rods for free, they expect something in return, like seminars or advertising or something.

Why do you want to be sponsored? Why the hell would anyone sponsor you? Do you even own the products you want to be sponsored for? What do you intend to do for the company that sponsors you? How many sales can you generate for the company? What's your tournament record? And on and on and on.

Well I am new to this site but I would have to agree with dampeoples here.....you need to get established first and prove you can do it either by winning or showing pictures you catch fish....something but you need to establish an image. Once you can accomplish this then start looking for someone to sponsor you....but start by using someones product that you have faith in. It helps!

My wife and I are friends with a pro angler's wife and we asked her what it took for her husband to get sponsored and she told us the following.
Start out local, you don't actually have to win every tournament, but if you can provide some shocking moments (come from behind victories, etc.) would really help. Just get your name out there and be known. Join as many tournaments that you can join. Now that BASS has open registration for it's members it seems to be getting easier to get your name out there, but you also have to realize that for every man who is looking to be sponsored there are a dozen more that want it just as bad, so you really have to work hard to get sponsorship. Don't give up and keep at it and eventually you will get something. It also isn't just tournaments that get you noticed. Volunteer for anything bass fishing such as kid fishing tournaments and things of that nature. I myself am looking to get into the bassfishing scene, but I also know that sponsorship isn't going to come overnight. Slow and steady wins the race. Good luck with it and maybe one day we will be seeing each other on the stage.

Depends on your sponsor. A widely known national brand doesn't need some Joe off the street, they're past that. Which goes back to what booger was sayin. Of course, depending on your antics outside the tournament, a bail-bondsman may be a good start. Or go Ike a couple times and maybe a local drug store will pick you up.

I don't have anything to fffer on sponserships. About Kistler rods. I have a 7ft. MH and love it. I can throw it all day and not get tired. It, IMHO enables me to have a greater degree of accuracy. I highly recommend them.

I dont know much about getting bass fishing sponsorships, but I know what it took to get a BMX racing one. First, you want to get yourself established. Then , on a local level, look for places that are owned by locals, and it would be all the better if it was a tackle shop.

The odds are highly against you getting a sponsor inside the fishing industry when you are just starting out. They already have commitments to established anglers and to tournament trails. Not only that, they get hit with thousands of requests per day from people thinking they should be sponsored. Unless you have a pretty impressive track record, and have something to offer them, you can count on a zero response from them.
I am a regional director for an established tournament trail. We have some big sponsors (Ranger, Mercury, and Kistler are among them) and I can tell you that recruiting new sponsors, even with a proven record, proven attendence numbers, website hit statistics, and all of the other marketing angles covered, is a HUGE chore. Trust me when I tell you this. It is easier, and will be a lot less of a headache, if you pay your own way for a while. You may find that you don't like the pressure of tournament fishing, or that the pressure keeps you from performing well. Club fees are generally pretty inexpensive, so fish, learn, and establish a reputation that will help you land sponsors in the future.
