Default Browning Midas Combo

Hey guys, Bass Pro Shops carries Brownings line of products and the Midas combo is only $190,the rod looks pretty good. Has anybody used eother the rod or the reel? I might save up and get the rod, just wondering, thanks!

Bass Pro Shops owns the Browning name. You'll notice a lot of the Browning products are similiar to the BPS name brand products. I like the BPS Extreme reels and rods that I have. It's hard to beat Bass Pro's combo prices. I recently bought an Abu Garcia Revo S reel and like it better than my Extreme reels. If your just looking to buy a reel I highly recommend you take a look at the new line of Revo's.

I bought last year's Midas reel and was not pleased with it, even sent it back to Bass Pro because the first day I used it, something in the reel seized up and the thing made a screeching/screaming sound and didn't get lures out there at all. I switched it for an Abu Garcia 4600 series reel, 4 of which I've had, and not one of them has had any problems since my first one 3 years ago and many hours of fishing on each. My recommendation: stay away from the BPS Extreme series of reels (had the same problem as my exMidas) and the Brownings. As for the rod, I have no experience with their rods, thus having no comments on them. Always remember though, Browning's specialty is firearms, not fishing.
