Default tired of cable

I was thinking of getting rid of cable and trying direct. Anybody use satelite or dish? I can never read the small prinin the ads. It seems like the prices are too good to be true. My basic/extended cable is $52 a month. I've seem prices from $24 and up with direct veiw. Is it better and worth it. Do they raise the prices after a few months.

I have directv and have had it since it first became available. My monthy bill is $42.99 plus I pay an extra ten bucks for the HD channels. Great picture and sound but a few times a year it does go down for a few minutes if there is a huge rainstorm.

We use comcast. We get internet and cable together. I'm not exactly sure what it costs, but my dad never complains about it like he does with the other bills, so I don't think it's too bad

DirecTV/Dish Network has some issues. Mainly local stations are additional charges. Secondly when the weather is bad you can't get reception. This isn't just rain, it's snow also, along with anything else the throws up stuff to block a clear view to the satelite. I had it for 12 years. Anytime the weather was bad(when you want to see local news) and I wanted to see the news reports, I couldn't because the weather was bad. It is nice to rent movies off of, but their internet charge is like $100 if you want it, plus have to pay a lot for the neccesary equipment. Now I did have it for 12 years, but cable is my choice nowadays.

I live in the Midwest but my directv only goes out for a severe rain storm and this only happens about 2 or 3 times a year and lasts for a few minutes. I have never had a signal interuption for snow.
