Went bass fishing in the big bad wind. Customer one hour late to dock and in that time wind kicked up 10 knots extra to 25 knots. Cold day and noticed youngin shivering so I made a decision to find a back creek and fish it. Hit the main river with 4 foot seas and the new Mako took it good ran about 25 mph over the top of short tall waves. In the creek and out of the wind he started to warm up and curled up on the seat to take a nap. His dad and I fished for about three hours with out a fish. Called it a day at 11:am.
The ride back however was worse than the ride up. Rollers had built up the waves 25 feet apart but still 4 feet tall. The boat did wonderful and dry at 15 mph. I will take him out this summer for some topwater action with ribs/chicken for free.. Second year in row for this guy. Last year it was the wind and cold too but they scored five LGMouth. Karma I guess.. Capt Mike

Need to get you one of these. Take your pick. No problem with the pesky 4 footers.

How many does yours sleep comfortably?
![]() A sailboat flipped over Sunday just outside Leesylvania. Two guys in our club saw the boat in the river and found the owner clinging to the side of the boat. They picked him up and attempted to tow the boat in but failed. The owner was safely dropped off to the park rangers ![]() ![]() We watched the rolling waves and white caps all day long safely from inside Chop. creek. Our run back was fine but changed when we got to the Quantico power plant and the waves bounced off of the sea wall giving us 3-4 footers from all directions. We then took a couple over the bow as we worked our way through that mess. Reminded me of a trip I took years ago down on Santee Cooper next to the dam in 4-6 foot swells. Yeah I heard that the BASS Weekend Series was cancelled due to small craft warnings. While fishing Chop. creek another boat told us about the cancellation. While we were heading into the creek a friend, who launched in Chop. creek, was fishing the point and was being told to leave the area by the MP's on shore. Seems that a large transport plane was scheduled to land and a boat was swamped or flipped last week by the landing aircraft. We saw the transport plane land around 11 AM. Big Airplane!!! I was amazed that such a large aircraft could land on that runway. I met Bill years ago when he was guiding on the river. He came and talked to the club once. I used to see him on the river often. He dropped out of site for a while but I'd heard he was back on the river fishing lately. Last edited by 3dkicker; 05-07-07 at 10:42 PM. |

I can hide twenty pounds of cargo and three Cubans in the secret compartments. Two more runs and it will be paid off...
Ha ha ha. Capt Mike
