Default First 5lber!! I missed it first!

I missed a hook up on this fish about an hour and a half prior on a lizard!! My buddy dropped a fork tailed dinger in the same spot and it barely hit the water... The best part of the story is the fish made an immediate run to a bunch of logs and I went chest deep to get it out!!! Awesome fish, Awesome fun..

Thanks again to everyone here who has helped me learn to be a better fisherman... I'm having a ball!

Yeah, he is holding out in front a little, but it was about 20-21 long and 14 girth. We had to measure quick and get her back in the water quick cuz it was a rough landing!!

Punching that into the fish calculator on the forum comes up around 5lbs... Does that seem right to you guys.. Seeing the fish I would have though in the 4's. What do you think!

Its acceptable to round up a half pound, but no more than 1. Manlaw.

I'd say 5.

So your buddy caught it from your spot Might want to keep your spots secret from now on, at least from him LOL. Congrats to him, and hopefully next time it's you.

Thanks Lizards - I've caught a few out of his spots too! I had a lot of fun going in the water to dig it out of the logs anyway. Thought you might like to know I missed it walking a lizard!!!!!

You know, bh, sometimes it is just as if not more satisfying when your buddy gets the good fish instead of you. Tell your buddy good job.

No question Reb- Fishing with a friend or family is always more fun than fishing alone. The friendly competition makes us both fish a little harder. Right now I've got a good lead in numbers, but he's got the two biggest fish of the summer!

Perhaps you both can learn from this. Why is he getting the bigger ones, and why are you getting more? When you figure that out, then you'll be a much better angler. And yes I was happy you got hit on a lizard, just sorry you didn't land it

Thanks, Hadn't thought about it that way Lizards.... He is definitely more patient, he favors texas rigged plastics weightless, I tend to switch baits more often. Hmmm, this is definitely a question worth thinking about!
