Sad to say, I might be the culprit.
I modified someone else's quote in response to his inquiry re some old braided line and gave him what I thought was a reasoned response to his original question. The thread was entitled "String", BTW.
In no way did I intend to upset him. If I did, however, I most humbly apologize.
Anyone who knows me can attest that, while I can be rather acerbic in the course of posting, I mean no harm.
Heck, I even signed off as "Your Kindly Uncle Fly" AND offered to send him a new spool of line, no charge, so he'd have good stuff on his reels.
Maybe his parents read the post and noted my reference to his Grandparents' honeymoon at "Viagra Falls"...Ooops!
On the other hand, maybe it was something else, totally unrelated to "String", that caused his departure. Hope so.
Maybe I need to remember to re-read before I hit "Submit"...maybe we all do. Still, no harm or disrespect was intended and the intent was to educate him without sounding like his Math teacher.
I think I'll rethink my assessment of what is appropriate and what isn't. Even if this is based on overreaction on his or his parents' part, the fault is mine.
