Default Searched....

I shore fish a lot of the time, so i'm always on the look out for small ponds to fish around my area. But i dont usually find many that i can really fish due to it being private or not accessable... so i was wondering if anyone knows a good site where i can get free satellite image maps? I did a site search because i know that this topic had to have been discussed before, but the only topics i came upon was for topographic maps, i dont want them, i just want aerial images. And i already know of Google Earth, but for some reason my computer wont allow me to download it, so thats outta question, i've also tried Terraserver but unlike most other satellite imaging map sites that only have some kinda trademark over the image, Terraserver decided to be obnoxious and load down the image with its name and these litle colorful squares, not to mention the image is of terrible qaulity. I used to know of a site, it was used for real estate, it told you the estimated prices of each house you clicked on, yet it was a nice clear image and had no trademark over the picture and i used to use it to help me locate ponds... if any one knows the name of that site or any other sites that are good it would be appreciated. thanks.

Try www.weatherchannel.com

I click on the radar map and it will enlarge, then each time you click on it, the map enlarges, or you can use the slide scale. Then move the curser over your area and you'll find streets, houses and ponds.
Today I watched a buddy of mine on lake lakengren, I tracked his movements.
The only drawback is if its rainy or cloudy, you can see as much.

Thanks JB, and about the radar showing rain... if its getting in your way at the bottom of the map where it has choices such as Radar, Clouds, Clouds and Radar, then None... select None and it will hide the rain.

Leroy- when you click the link, on the home page you'll see a small map of the US, under will be a drop down menu titled 'Maps' click the drop down arrow and look towards the bottom where it says "interactive weather map" click and enjoy.

PS- i had it working for a little bit, but then it said it was experiencing some technical difficulties, and to try again later... so you may have to give it a bit.

It wasnt current for me either... yet every i'd say 20 minutes the map would dissapear and on the screen it'd have a link to refresh.. it said it was updating... i dont know, it looked to me like the pictures were taken sometime in winter down here, due to the fact all the grass was dead and there was still water in some of the nearby ponds that dont have water in them right now. also i dont see the boat in the driveway.. haha so who knows. it being current realy doesnt matter to me though, i just needed a map to show ponds in the area, and it does a great job.

Hm, must be the area... even zoomed out it still shows old data... but once again doesnt matter much to me, i found a golf course pond that i'm about to go fish, i just have to get my lazy a** up and walk down there, because theres no where to park the truck.

Here, try this one:

http://local.live.com/

You can change between a roadmap, satellite image, or satellite w/ a roadmap superimposed over it...pretty handy. If you've got a slow internet connection, you might wind up waiting all day for a picture, though. It's a lot of data to download. Hope this helps.
