Default Kayakin the Guadalupe, 10-14-07

Me and Kyle (texasfisherman) took the yaks out for a ttip this morning to my secret spot. We ended up catching a total of 8 bass, 3 smallies and 5 largemouths... It was a great trip, and thankfully we were sheltered most of the time by all the wind.

The Fleet:

The Secret Spot:

Here is the first bass...A smallish smally but it fought good, on a Firetiger colored crankbait.

Then this nice LM on a brushhog...

We then stopped on a little sandbar and ate lunch, and I proceeded to catch this nice Largemouth on a baby brushhog.

Then this fish... Not sure what kind, a smallie with hardly any color or a mix of SM and LM?? Fought like a smallie anyways.

Yeah it does look like a spotted bass...you can usually tell if it has a rough patch on its tongue. LArge mouth's tongues are smooth.

Capt Mike- This year, during the summer, we had a ton of rain resulting in alot of flooding... thats where all the debris came from. It sure does look like bigfoot country huh lol.

2nd pic down, looking at the concrete slab and all the what appears to be concrete stone, could be an old washed out bridge. About one o-clock Straight from Tb's cap where the river forks to the left sure looks like a great place for smallies. Beautiful river. Nice bass and pics there TB. Carpy

6 feet extra on Potomac here below DC means Harpers Ferry WV is under 27 feet of water..

I remember reading or seeing on TV that the Trout Unlimited has a very good trout fishery on that river.. I saw it and thought trout in Texas??

Is that area close to you too.?

At the Kerrville-schriener state park, not far from this place, they stock rainbows every year... I have fished that place and others which are supposed to be good but never caught one.

Carpman- Could be... There is a ton of structure on the bottom.

Nice pictures! Looks like a great spot. Here is a picture of a what I think is a "Spotted Bass". I caught it last month on Lake LBJ.

I drive over the Guadalupe on 281 everyday. I knew it would be fun to fish! Way to go!
