Default Tube Rigs

Can you Guys please post some different rigs for a tube? How do you rig one with a jig head on the inside?

Pictures are highly appreciated!

Take the jig, stick it up the tube, push the eye through. The farther forward you go the less spiral you get when the tube falls to the bottom. If you move the eye back 1/4" or so then you get more spiral.

Texas rig them, c-rig, floating, or drop shot them. Plenty of ways to do it.

LL, when rigging a tube on a jighead just push the jighead all the way inside it and punch the line tie through the plastic.

T-rig: Rig it just like you would a worm.

Internal weight: Push the weight all the way in then T-rig it making sure the point of the hook goes through the opening of the weight.

Don't want to buy $$ tube weights? Get some small bass casting (bell) sinkers. (Why do they call them bass casting weights? Haven't figured that one out) Push the bell sinker all the way in with the brass loop pointing at the head. T-rig it making sure the point of the hook goes through the loop. Works like a charm.

thats a good tip reb, i can remember quiting tube fishing on a few outings
cus I ran out of jighooks for tubes.
back then no one ever texas rigged them, we all had a mindset you had to
have the lead poured hook.
I need to feed the monkey now and get some bell sinkers lol

Thanks Guys! Those tips really help Reb!

When I'm using a jig on the inside, do I need a long-shank jig? Wouldn't the hook catch the bottom of the tube before the eyelet reached the top of the tube?

Depends on the length of the tube. You shouldn't have a problem with 3" tubes and 1/0 or 2/0 jigs. You won't be able to use the small gold hooked jigs commonly used with marabou or minnows. If you have longer tubes, 4", then 3/0 jigs can work. If you don't have them then you have two options that I know of, first you can also cut a slit in the tube for the hook, or second poke the eye through and allow the bait to spiral to the bottom (as explained above).

towards the end of the year last year, I threw a small tube with just a worm hook on spinning rod ata weedline wasting time..... first 5 casts I had massive strikes from severely pressured fish.... but only hooked one. Do they make longer, un-weighted hooks that are made for tube fishing? All the fish had the tube in their mouth, when I set the hook it came flying back at me lol.

Depending on the thickness of the tube you should do fine with a 2/0 or 3/0 wide gap hook or EWG depending on your preference. Each company makes their own hooks based on their own specs so one companies 2/0 may not be the same length as another. Take the tubes over to the hook section and rig one up to see which you prefer.

If you have hydrilla like we have down here, you have to t-rig it and it seems to work OK. I think I know why its called a texas rig. The only thing bigger in texas is the pond moss.
