Default I was just informed...

That when I go to Alaska this Summer, we will be doing some Grayling fishing. Just small streams, nothing large.

Any tips???

And I suppose you don't have a Grayling rod and reel either ? Well have a good time anyway, even if you aren't going to land any fish, because "mama didn't buy you a grayling rod".

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is advising fishermen to take extra precautions and keep alert for bears while in the sreams...Especially you Southerners. They are advising that you wear noisy little bells on your clothing so as not to startle bears that aren't expecting you. They are also advising you to carry pepper spray with you in case of an encounter with a bear...It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity... And you should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear droppings... Black bear droppings are smaller and contain lots of berries and squirrel fur... Grizzly bear droppings are much larger and have little bells in it and smells like pepper. And some of the griz poop have been found to have parts with the word revo s on it. So please Lunker know your bear poop before you plan such an event, and please be careful while fishing .

Crane -- I've had enough people, not just you, but everybody saying that Momma buys my rods. SHE DOES NOT! I make money at work, and buy the damn rods/reels! Any questions?!?!?

WTL -- Thanks. This is my third time, second time time fishing, (This Summer and last Summer). I can't wait to go this Summer, we're going for almost two and a half weeks. Should be some good fishin'!

Lunk - I mean it. Do enjoy the trip as much as you can.

Back in 02, my Mom and Bro, Grandfather and myself all flew to Scotland for what would be out last family trip. It was just a regular trip, sightseeing, looking at castles and stuff, but I packed away the flyrod and from our rented cottage on the Isle of Skye I managed to hike to some very remote trout and salmon fishing. To this day, it was one of the most spectacular, sacred moments of my life. Enjoy it. For real. Not many bass fishermen get to go after grayling, let alone experience such settings.

Thanks, Guys, I can't wait.

When we went last Summer, we saw countless moose because the moose bow season had just started the day we arrived. Moose and bear were driving like crazy! You'd think they'd be easy to spot - THEY'RE NOT! They're like shadow hunters hiding in the underbrush of pine and cedar.

This Summer I hope to get a little better at the Rainbow Trout fishing on the Kenai River. Last Summer I only caught two, a twelve and an eighteen incher. Yet, my father and father's friend caught at least ten each. They each caught a 30", I was truly bummed!

We also hope to go fishing in the lakes for trout and pike. When we were up there last Summer, the person who we stayed with had a friend who recently caught the state record Northern. It was something around 52-53"!!!

I can't wait,

-Lunk-

Fly Rod & some fly's are all you need. For 50.00 at Wally World you can get a Martain Combo. That's all you really need for a rod. As far fly's are concerned BPS has some some cheap fly's that will work just fine.

C Bird, the fonts are rather large in my post. It's cause I wear tri-focals and if I dont have my head tilted in the right position I will pick up on the wrong size font at times. Zooker got mad at me once for posting large fonts that he bout left his girl friend for two weeks an dang near shot holes in his boat. Yea, I do think you old goats are raking up some years. Have a good day! Carpy

Well, I've found out the dates of arrival/departure. We will be leaving on the 6th of June and arriving back home on the 20th of June. Working for seven days and fishing for five. I know for sure we will be Halibut fishing, (Bering Sea or Cook Inlet), Rainbow Trout fishing, (Kenai River), King Salmon fishing, (Kenai River), Grayling fishing, (Small streams), and Rainbow Trout fishing, (Calumback Lake). I CAN'T WAIT!!!
