Reservoir 4-7-08

First time we've fished somewhere besides our pond. We fished a small reservoir west of our house. There are two reservoirs: one small one with lots of weeds, and the bigger, upper one with no cover whatsoever. We started in the little one. My dad was throwing a Clown Husky Jerk. I decided to try slow rolling a spinnerbait even though the sun was out (and setting). I figured the surface was choppy enough (with 10-20mph winds) for the spinnerbait though. After a few casts I decided We didn't have enough time to spend 30mins on each lure so I switched to a Smithwick Suspending Rogue in the Red Bream color. First cast I got hit with a twitch twitch, pause retrieve. He was about 10-12" but he had a little belly on him. We casted down the one side then went up to the larger reservoir.

My dad continued to throw the Husky Jerk. I switched to a YUM Super Crawbug. (the rigged ones). Nothing. Then I tried my best cold water lure so far: Zoom Super Fluke. I tried Watermelon Candy and Albino. Nothing on either. Then I switched back to my rogue. still nothing. We decided to go back down to the smaller res. I went back along the side I caught my first one on and my dad went the other way. After maybe 15min He's yelling to me that he got a fish. I ran to the other side where he was. He said it was the second one that his bait. It was about 15" and she had a nice belly too. We walked along that shore casting until it was almost dark. Then we headed for the truck and left.

I wis they let boats in this reservoir. It is too small though. Overall a pretty good day for only fishing a little over an hour.
