There are days when whatever you do doesn't work. Bill Dance once said "Never asume that the fish aren't hitting." But the truth is that there are times that nothing less than dynamite will bring them up. I had the reverse situation happen one day. I was on the lake with one of my sons and he was using a big fat nightcrawler. Things were really slow and he saw me fishing with a plastic worm. He said if I caught one with my artificial worm when
he had a big real worm on he wouldn't believe it. Within five minutes I hooked a bass about 1-2 lbs. He still can't believe they didn't hit his live one. How do you figure? Just keep fishing. You'll be there some day at the right time, at the right place, with the right bait. BF |

I have been to the lake countless times without catching anything! This past summer, I visited the lake about 25 times; all in all, I caught only 3 catfish and 2 bass (when I got my boat). I know how frustrating it is, seeing all the pros catch fish on t.v. like nothing. Just hang in there. Like an old saying: "thats why it's called fishing, and not catching."

Welcome to the forum, Jim!
Just keep chunking-as the water gets warmer the fish will get more active.

jim,
we live in the northeast too, and have been out about 5 weeks now fishing small cranks that go from 2-5 ft or just under the surface cranks. try targeting the first drop off areas of the pond, like a transition from 3-5 ft ... we've been cranking all lakes for a month now and have had success ![]() |
