Anybody still use Sliders? I did a search and found some stuff from a few years ago. A local tackle shop has them on clearance but I'm not real familiar with them.
Thanks, -Pig, safe at third! |

Sliders are great baits.
They seem to work really well when it's slow because they are so subtle in action...........they just slide along with not a care in the world. ![]()

Thanks, Robbie. I appreciate it. I think I'll grab a few boxes and give them a try.

I used them 15+ years ago with Zoom lizards to place second in our club classic. Lost two coming to the boat and lost the classic by 1lb. About 10 years ago another club member used them with PowerPro and centipedes to work over bass up and down the state and cleaned up winning the club championship going away. About 3+ years ago one of the local guides/writers started writing about this "new" worm/jig head technique that was winning tournaments on the river and asked if I knew anyone who used it. And then recently there's been this big "shakey head" thing going on the past year or two. Might be a connection there. I haven't used it in a while but I have some in a box in my tackle bag so that when the mood strikes I'm ready to do the "slider head" thing.

the charlie brewer slider that was brown with a orange tip was a staple in our club in the early 90s...one reason I never over reacted to the shakey head, I figured we had been doing it all along with a slider head jig head and lighter line. Makes ya wonder why we dont use alot of the killer stuff of yesteryear, the bass dont know any diference...take the shad rap for example..everyone used to throw them all the time, now many other styles have replaced it in popularity.

Well I see that you have found one of the greatest baits ever produced for clearer waters and when able to use lighter lines. I use them on spinning gear and have done VERY well when doing this. The slider heads will ALWAYS have a place in my boat, especially when its very important to get a limit first. The slider in my opinion is the way to go when fish are somewhat smaller, though I am not saying they wont nail a biggun. I always use Power worms 7" as a trailer unless they are really being selective then out comes the smaller craws.

Thanks for the input. I'm heading to the baitshop to pick some up before hitting the local hawg pond for a few hours.
