Default Decent Outting Loch Raven MD

A buddy and I went out on a lil fishing excursion on Monday. We decided to take the day off and take a trip up to loch raven for some relaxing fishing. Only issue was the heat, had to be 94+ on the water. We mostly caught dinks around the shore line, 5 for him and 7 for myself (not including a few pickeral and a couple yellow perch). On our way in we noticed fish breaking in the middle of the loch which is rather large and only allows for electric motors. We puttered our way out there and threw on some deep diving cranks...this not being our fortie (or however that is spelled) my confidence was not high. We ended up catching 3 fish in about 15 minutes (mine being the biggest ;-)). We would have liked to stay out longer however with the heat and the second of our two batteries just about dead we had to call it a day. Next time however I will definitely put in more time fishing deep. Also the two larger fish pictured I had measured in at 3 and 4+ pounds. I am not sure if i believe it though as the scale is kinda crappy. If you can give me an estimate on looks alone feel free. Thanks!

btw i had a pickerel tear up the skirt on one of my spinners , when i set it I almost ripped his upper jaw in two , the bright side was it was easy to get the hook out

Default Hot Day

Most people think that the fishing in hot weather is terrible. It could be further from the truth. I catch most of my fish in the middle of summer and I always use a fast retrieve. The hotter it is the more active the fish are.

If you have a depth finder, next time get out on the deep hole and take a good look. Those fish are coming from bottom features. Once you find the structure I guarantee you can go back time and time again and catch good fish. It's probably an area that has gone untouched.
