our vacation this summer was down to the beach here in SC and me,my dad, best friend little brother and my dads friend all went down to the river neck to have some fun. got about 14 of these little spots 13 caught by everyone but me..made me mad.. we had it set up kinda like carolina rig.. weights on the line.. then a leader and hook at the end with cut squid on the hook.. and they'd hit a couple times and you go to set it and they'd come off.. well then it got interesting after missing 5 or so i get this little bugger ( not me holding it )
![]() ![]() anyone know what it is? then my favorite ![]() caught a stingray!.. i know i should be in camo and a john deere hat if i'm fishing but we were out and about before we went fishing so i had to look nice ![]() heres the whole mess we caught ![]()

careful when holding a stingray like that. They can be fast and underestimated. Speaking from a bad experiance, cut the barb first thing and leave on the ground to unhook, etc. Nice fish.

yeah that was like 10 seconds after i had him out the water..that put up a fight like a bass.. and it wasnt a tap tap like on a plastic worm.. more like a topwater.. it just ran away with it.. and i was waist deep in the water..in my bathing suit and i started reeling going.. omg.. and then everyone was like what what? i said ..this isnt a little fish.. so i started backing out the water and on that zebco 808 ...drag down tight it was still buzzingg so i started reeling and i had to keep the rod up and line tight and when i got to the shore about 3 more cranks and he came about 4 foot from the shore and i was like ITS A RAY!.. and we got him up and stepped on him.. and they ran got my camera and i grabbed the line and got the shot and back down to the ground and cut the tail off.. i wanted to keep it in a jar.. but my dad wouldnt let me..

One time I was deploying baits in the surf for sharks and had about a 15 pound whole stingray I was rigging with three 12/0 J hooks. I cut the tail but was in such a hurry I just dropped the whole thing in the sand. When I walked back to my yak to get ready to drop it out I stepped on it and it HURT!!!
Dont know about that other fish. TB |

I have before, but in this case I was deploying baits via kayak, dropping them a few hundred yards offshore.
