Default Heading back to my trade

Well if all goes as planned tomorrow when i meet with my old boss I should be headed back to eyelet and progressive toolmaking and leaving the sales game behind . It's been about five years since I worked in a shop and hopefully I won't be to rusty . I can say I'm excited to have a chance to go back though and looking foward to a challenge at work again .

Jim

Thanks bama , yeah it's just time for a change and with the shortage of skilled labor out there I would be dumb not to do it plus I've grown weary of the retail sales atmosphere to say the least, when a company treats it's employees like children it's time to move on .

I feel you, im in need of a change myself. You can only show someone where the caps lock key is and explain to them that passwords are case sensitive so many times before you want to strip the keys off the keyboard and turn them into supositories for the computer challenged.

Well i had the meeting with my old boss and it went pretty good , I'm gonna start off part time to get myself reaquainted with the shop ( part time will be like 30 hrs a week ) and keep my other job for a while , the only downside is it will kill my fishing time for a bit .

Well had my first day back at the shop and it was like riding a bike I guess there are somethings you can never forget . It was kinda nice to have a sense of acomplishment at the end of the workday rather than standing around all day waiting to pounce on the first customer you see and try to get them to empty their wallet . But the work day went smoothly

I worked retail sales through college. I hated every minute of sales and vowed never to go back. During my 4 year sales experience, I encountered some of the most rude and unpleasant people. "The customer is always right" has gone to some people's head. I tell you the place to work (in my opinion) while in school is a high-end, upscale country club. I met so many contacts (ceo's, vp's, coo's, managing directors, etc.) that were able to help me with references with jobs in my field and they were able to get my foot in the door so to speak. During my time at the club, I found out that not all rich people are snooty. The majority of the ones I came into contact with were extremely pleasant and generous (tips where wonderful, especially around the holidays).

Good luck Jim in your "new" job.

Good luck Jim, change is needed sometimes and don't worry about your fishing I've got it covered I took Vac. days every Tues. for the next two months, I know but Mon. and Fri. were taken already. So any fish I catch is your fish. Really you'll be back fishing before you know it.
