Well bad,sad news gang.
for me anyways. as some of you here know, the wife and i were planning a trip to gatlinburg tenn for her 45th birthday (tomorrow by the way), and we were really looking forward to getting away for a nice weekend (hehehe). anyway, we foundout that we aren't able to go now. see, i haveta go out and dig up the sewer lines a replace em. now we ain't got the time or the money go . not wanting anything except for ya'll to wish lisa a very happy birthday.
unless ya'll want to come over and help me dig, lmao. kidding. truly i just wanted to rant. it seems like ol murphy has a bigger set than the bait monkey. see we were gonna go to BPS for an entire day. have a list of things to buy. now i am gonna have to wait till i see how much i am gonna spend on the septic system. i'll tell ya'll something, it doesn't look good either. at least 2 50 feet of lines needs replacing. the house was built in 1955 and they used the old clay lines. so it is not gonna be easy or fun. feel sorry for meok? lol. ok, rant and sob story over. now to get out there and break a shovel handle.

If I were 100 miles closer I would come up there and we'd take care of it in a hurry. When I clicked on the thread though I was afraid it was something about Lisa's kidneys, glad its just sewer lines. Tell her I said happy Bday if she doesnt read it herself.

Bama, I hear you brother. Me and the wife were in the air for G'burg, Branson, or Disney for about 4 or 5 days while the kids had spring out. Well uncertainties in the oilfield have brought that to a schreeching halt. If I catch Murphy in the alley, he is gonna tote one, and I will throw in a few kicks for you, too. Sorry about the setback, I would help if I could. BTW, I recommend the yellow handled fiberglass shovels, they don't break as easy. And find you some high schoolers for cheap labor, hahahahaha.

Bama I hear ya. I remember digging the hole for our outhouse at the cabin. My dad had 2 55 gallon drums all tarred and ready to put down in the hole. With about another 2 or 3 feet to dig we hit this giant rock. We couldn't dig it out due to it's size so we had to dig over more. Thank God they put a sewer system in. Lisa, happy birthday!

Those old tar paper lines were the worst for having roots burrow into them. I did so many growing up, my Dad had a plumbing business and I was cheap labor.

So if I understand. You had planned on a nice quiet get away and instead will be up to your knees in S^&+? Murphy ain't very fond of you at all Bama. At least your Bride's health is okay. I like others felt my heart sink for a moment at the title but am glad to see it simply means a ditch to be dug.

thanks gang for the thoughts. sorry i messed up on the thread. maybe kevin can fix it for me? and yes cass i will literaly be up to my neck in crap. gotta get this done before it deeper. can't really dig deep, hit solid rock in about 18' in some spots. 2" in others. that is whats got me mad. gonna have to bring in dirt. LOTS of dirt. very costly around here. lines run in the back along the bluff. smell messes up the view ya know? lol. at least i can laugh about it huh? oh well, #$%^ happens.

Don't do that to me, John. My first thought was about Lisa and her kidneys. That's ok, my pulse will get back to normal in a few..........hours........
That does suck about the sewer lines, though. Are you gonna dig up the old lines, or just start from scratch and dig a new trench for the new lines? PVC is your friend. Glue and go... |

I got to admit Bama. I am rather impressed to find out that you had indoor plumbing. I guess your state is better off than I thought....LMAO

Thats a lousy change of events for sure bama! About 14 years ago we had to do the same thing at our last house. It's no fun for sure. Just for perspective though if I may. Last year, my neighbor and friend two houses down from me lost his wife from a vicious cancer that took her in just 6 weeks. She was just 42 years old, with two kids at home. So maybe grab that shovel with a smile and give Lisa a big ole smooch when you are ready to begin that dirty job. And tell her happy birthday for me. Lifes blessings often come wrapped in disguise.

Sorry to hear about that Bama. I guess if it's gonna happen, better to have it happen now rather than during the heat of the Summer.
