| BassFishin.Com Premier Elite | What Other Species?

OK, I know we love bass (LM, SM, spots, etc), but I also know everyone's gonna have another species that they love to fish for. So lets here 'em! (stripers included, cause they're not real bass) I'd have to say, although I've only fished for them a few times, Steelhead are right up top on my list. Then Musky, gotta love them toothy critters. I enjoy a bit of catchfishing in my pond (6lb test, ultralight, slice of bread, topwater, 5-8lb catfish, it's fun). I also do the occassional bluegill fishing in the spring as well as perch through the ice. May try my hand at walleye fishing too this year. BB

I fish blue gills some times. Most of the time if I'm not bass fishing, I'll be salt water fishing for snook or blue fish!

The most picturesque fishing I ever did was for Atlantic Salmon, although I was only successful in catching juveniles.

Once or twice a year we go to a river and fish a little ways from a dam where there is excellent fishing for carp, catfish and sheepshead. We usually catch quite a few carp in the 5-10 lb. range and they can really put up a fight, so it's a lot of fun. Here is a 10-pounder I caught back in '02. |

Yeah, sheephead (freshwater drum) do fight pretty good, but around here, they're pest fish. Same as white bass. They just get in your way when you perch and walleye fishing on Lake Erie. BB

Yup, the sheep are just pests to us, too. The carp are the fighters and they're the ones we're after.

If I'm not fishing for bass then I'll be fishing for pike or steelheads. A 20 pound steelhead can really tear things up!!!

Sight fishing for carp in fairly clear shallow water with a fly rod is the most fun I've ever had fishing. They are a blast. I've never fished the saltwater flats for bones or permit or reds but I've seen it on TV and sight fishing for carp looks the same and in my own backyard. I love it.
