Re: Nice Fish
Nice colors!
Bass in my pond usually have black backs (mud bottom.) Some people have different ideas about what is big and small. I don't put down any bass, I say any bass is a good bass! |

Re: Nice Fish
Spots have a smaller mouth, it looks like one to me to, but could be a largemouth that has some growing to do, just think what she could look like in 5 years lmfao

Re: Nice Fish
looks like a spot to me. A.K.A. Kentucky spot. Black diamonds are dead give away, I bet if you laid her on her side her mouth wouldn't extend beyond her eye like a LM, just a little FYI.

Re: Nice Fish
Whatever it's called it was fun to catch! Replying to how much it weighed, I don't know. I don't have a scale or tape measure in my T-Box. As well, I release all my catches no matter what the size because I'd like to (as JB so hilariously put it) catch it again in five years. As to where I caught it, West Point Lake LaGrange, GA.

Re: Nice Fish
Spotted bass also have a dark spot located on the gill cover which the fish in the pic is missing. A Spotted bass also has a rough tongue patch located in the middle of the tongue while a largemouth lacks the tongue patch. You can't tell by looking at the picture but maybe Pecksteel could answer that for us.

Re: Nice Fish
As far as I remember it did not have a rough patch. Although, I wasn't paying attention that much. Sorry.

Re: Nice Fish
We had a 4.5 lb spot weighed in once at Ky lake tournie, it was full of eggs and awesome!
Generally up here the fight well, and usually about 1-2 lb range, but can get bigger 8) |
