FYI
I thought I would post this friendly little reminder to all of you Indiana bassers, that our Indiana State Fishing Licenses expire today-3/31- You can purchase them online at http://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/5330.htm. I'm also pleased to say that the costs are the same; $17 for Resident Fishing License and $35 for Non-resident. They also did away with the added -online convenience fee- for internet purchases. I would bet to say that the C/O's will be out looking to fill up the State's coffers, so don't get caught without your license. ~Mark |

I hate how some states have gone to the system of selecting a date where all licenses are voided instead of the 1 year from purchase rule.

thanks woody!
Denny and me got ours last week, and as I was printing it off I ran out of ink, so I emails a copy to denny and he printed it off. We hit brookville last week and got into a few schools of bass, Denny went Friday after the cold snap that went through and it was tough going..and the water temp went from low fifties to mid forties...most of the bass are in the back of the creeks or stacked up deep in front of Big Eli, it wont be long till they are hitting again! Have ya hit Your home lake yet?

Yeah, Mississippi had that same rule until last year. If you bought a license on May 31, it expired the next day. Buy it on June 1, you're good for a year. Now, they've seen the light, and it's good for 1 year from the purchase date.

Va.'s is a year from the purchase date, I do it on line and print off three copies-one to keep on my deck boat-one to keep on the Bassinbandit's bass boat and to keep in my billfold.

if its within like the month, you can buy the next years licence.. for instance i can buy my next years licence from June 1-2009 to May 31st and its still the same price. but my b-day is June 30th so i usually get $$ and i go to wally world or dicks and hit up the tackle with the b-day money and i get my licence with it. but being a sportsman, i spend some $$ in my licence.. Resident Junior Sportsman Residnet Migratory Bird Resident Migratory Waterfowl Resident Freshwater Fishing Resident Saltwater Fishing Turkey Tags Doe Tags ![]() haha the junior sportsman gives me a little break on the regular licencing.. it includes like the Big Game Permit and some other stuff too.

Anybody know what sense the set date way makes? Besides more revenue?

just another way to anoy us fishermen and women wtl. that has to be the only other reason. no really i heard that it was too hard for the state to keep track of the yearly thing. that is what a friend that works for the county told me anyway.

I figure it's just a money thing. You buy a license in March when it starts warming up, then you gotta get another one in June or whenever. Twice the revenue, plus the fines if you don't remember the date it expires and go past it on accident.
Bama, I don't see how it's hard to keep up with. The date of purchase and expiration date are both printed on my license...I dunno...

I know some states have experimented with having private companies handle the permits.

its all computerized here in SC.. you show them your ID, and SS# then it shows everything that you bought last year and then you can simply renew it and pay the total. its printed on a receipt now and along with the doe and turkey tags. but you can still get a hand written licence i think , and i know you can get hand written tags too

CA all expire 31 December every year. They can not be purchased on-line, but there are plenty of places that sell them. I get mine at Wally-World. Well Santa usually leaves one in my stocking. CA has a law that they must be displayed above your waist. (I wear mine on my hat) The idea here is that they will change color every year and it makes it easier to identify who has one.
For the money I spend on an instate license ($70), they should walk down and talk to me rather than just checking with binos from the shore.
