Default An Engineers Advise On Boat Launching.......

Check your battery, check the gas, check that the plug is in, and before engaging the big motor, do as Nofearengineer does........

LOL, okay, okay. I'll tell ya before JB makes me out to be a total doofus!

The morning I showed up at the Event, JB offered to back me in at the state ramp. When he did, I turned the key, and NADA but the starter turnin the crank.

I thought maybe the fuel wasn't gettin to it, so I pumped on that bulb for what seemed like half an hour, but it still didn't fire. I was totally puzzled, since the thing usually starts up like a dream.

It turns out I had knocked my kill switch lanyard loos climbing into the boat, and once I put it back in place, it lit right up. I was thinkin to myself, "oh god...now JB is gonna think I'm the village idiot..." I had never had occasion to use the kill switch before, but at least now I know it works, lol.

HA!! You done that on your own. Before I get on you to bad the Bassinbandit belongs to that club also. A couple of years ago we rolled into a cove up he jumps up taking his life jacket off and slinging it down. When we went to leave, won't start " Adam check your kill switch," - " it wouldn't turn over if it was unhooked." well 15 minutes later I tell him again and guess what it started after he hooked it back up.
So you got company.

Been there, done that, NoFear. Except I was out in the middle of the lake, and either pulled it a little, bumped it, whatever. A friend of mine towed me to shore, and we spent the next 10-15 minutes checking fuel lines, throttle cables, pulled out the spark plugs...
Finally somebody said "What about the kill switch?" I said "No, it couldn't be that simple. I'm not that stu....."

Apparently, I am that stu.....

I have had the kill switch be an issue for me as well. This occured in a rental. I had it clipped to my sweatshirt. Well as it heated up that day, I took off that shirt and put my PFD back on. about an hour later, we were heading up to the dam when the engine stopped cold.
I tried to start it over and over again with no luck. It wasn't until my partner asked what that thing in the water was that I looked over to see my slowly sinking shirt 30 yards back.
