Default GPS for car

My daughter, who lives in Oregon is getting married late august. Since I hate to fly I am driving out. I want to get a GPS. I would like some ideas on a mid range price one which I guess would be from $150 to $300. Are the call out street name ones better? Or does it become bothersome with that feature? Anything else I should look for? Thanks.

I have a garman and LOVE it. Has both street and water also off road and walking. It will get me any where I want to go. It also shows shopping eating and intrest points for where you are. It tells you where to turn but does not call out street names (ex "turn left 2.5 miles ect), shows road names on map. Also has basic topo maps and you can by a chip for the navigation maps ONE of the best thing I ever bought I paid 320.00.
Hope this helps

I have a garmin nuvi from walmart for 129 and love it, it took us right to the campsite at ky lake, even told us to turn left on a gravel path by zookers cabin to get to the camp, pretty good deal, plus it will list any place to eat, or pts of interest.

Consumer reports has the Garmin nuvi 200 listed as a "Best Buy" for $200. I have an older Garmin StreetPilot 330c and like it just fine. Garmin's Nuvi 260w is Consumer's top rated basic navigator at $200. Lots of good ones out there, but can only speak for Garmin.

I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-265WT-B.../dp/B001ELJ9QK
Garmin 265WT. The traffic is a joke and never accurate, but everything else works great. I do like the talking street names, makes it easier than watching the screen constantly when you are in a congested area.

Default oops! price error

Should have said Garmin nuvi is a best buy for $120 not $200 - sorry for the mix up.

Used one last year. Needed to find a house in the real boonies with no posted street signs. Followed the map on the screen and it got me wirhin 50 feet of the address. Their great tools for driving to unknown locations. E

Thanks to everyone. I bought the garmin nuvi 205w today at walmart. I have two weeks to try it out. Paid $169 for it. BP has it in their catalog for $189 so I guess that's a good price.
