Default Perch Fishing is on!

My dad and I got out yesterday perch fishing at a reservoir south of Toledo.

We started fishing at about 8:30 and at about 1:30 we were out of minnows and had 39 yellow perch in the cooler.

The smallest fish was probably a bit under 8", which is still a good perch. The largest two or three measure about 11" But I'd say all but a few were over 9".

We didn't throw a single one back due to small size. While we didn't catch our limit (40 per person), we did get enough for a couple good fish fries!

We were using droppers off a 2' leader, but I didn't feel like tying one on my DS rod, so I hooked the minnows through the lips and dropshotted for perch. I could feel every little nibble with my braid mainline. And gammy dropshot/splitshot hooks work great for perch, lol.

Yes it was. I guess the some locals are pissed too because a couple people put it on OGF and now there's tons of boats there. there are probably close to 20, all fishing the same 60-70 yds of shoreline.

Wow, that's alot of boats on a little bit of shoreline... same thing happened here in Bellevue, word got out by OGF that one of the reservoirs was getting good bass, and the next thing you know we went from a reservoir loaded with big bass 3-5+ lbs, and now I have not caught a fish bigger than 12" from there in the past two and a half years! It sucks...

We took our boat. There were a couple guys fishing from shore with bobbers, but all they caught was crappie. I only saw one guys shore fishing that was catching any perch.
