Sluggo's are my bread and butter bait. Unfortunately, soft plastics are the only thing I seem to catch fish on, so I'm not very versatile. It's a good thing my lures are.

If you can catch one on a sluggo, I'd say you can master all the rest , the crankbait, spinnerbait and worm.
Setting the hook on a sluggo takes more effort than running a bait that sets itself, I bet if you just keep trying dif baits sooner than later you'll get bit and have that confidence. I am teaching a guy to bass fish with dif baits and he has new confidence in about 4 new baits this year alone, and thats what keeps your interest in the sport, the more you can apply what you have learned and make it work, the results usually mean more bass for you while others wonder how ya did it........ 8) |

I've got a few baits that I find that I can catch a fish on one of them in almost any situation. Â*First is a [glow=red,2,300]red shad culprit.[/glow] Â* When fishing ponds and small lakes, I have had no lure better than this. Â*For fishing after cold fronts, deadsticking a [glow=purple,2,300]5" junebug senko[/glow] around brushpiles has always produced good numbers for me when nothin else will work. Â*And then there is the good ol' wally world [glow=yellow,2,300]tandem chartreuse spinnerbait[/glow] which I find quite useful in any situation when a front is moving through, but the temp hasn't changed quite yet. Â* Sure I have a few other tricks up my sleeve, but those cover quite a few of the situations I have faced.

I'm like Lizards-don't have just one. I have confidence in a lot of different baits. It just depends on the conditions as to which one I use.

wild shiners or the BIGGEST MINNOW I can get my hands on. Bass go NUTS on BIG minners. Besides, at a dollar a dozen, and my bait shops definition of a dozen is closer to 2 dozen, they are the cheapest most effective bait there is. Just a small hook throw the lip on a small weighted styrofoam or cork bobber. Cast just about anywhere and have a fish in minutes (if you know how to locate them). Bass seem to have an uncanny sense that tells them when an injured minnow is in the area, cause they're usually on them like flies on ****.

Slug-go's and ZOOM Flukes, baby bass color seem to kill 'em all the time for me. Berkley's got this Bungee Worm, 7" with a tail that corkscrews, that seems to get em no matter how you present it. The only problem is that everything hits the worm, so you get those 'gills that pull the tail and break it off when you set the hook.
Mr. Big, how bout you post something worth reading or YOU don't post? Really, no one wants to smell your **** when you're on your monthly rampage. Relax, *******. |
