Swimbait Presentations
Just read a short article about jig fishing a swimbait. Let it sit on the bottom for a while then hop or move it a little then repeat. Was wondering what other kind of retrieves the swimbait gurus have come up with?

Bob, usually a straight retrieve works best, just vary the speed. That said, why not jig it, or yo-yo it, or try anything else?

I've experimented with more of a jig like presentation with paddle tail swimbaits. I would let it sink to the bottom and then turn the crank 4 or 5 times and stop, not so much lifting the rod tip.

Anymore than a straight retrieve.

In the winter time, I almost always jig the my soft bodied swimbaits. I try to hop them right across the rocks. This has been one of my most productive baits as the weather first starts to turn warm. I do it with Matt's Lure blue gills

I try to reel it as slow as I can. And if you think you are going slow enough, SLOW DOWN.
Check out this article from Bassmaster about fishing just as you describe: http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/b...dbeck_swimbait

Seems like a good idea, I may try it with my TT 7" swimabit, but I'd be kinda scared to do it with any treble swimbaits, in fear of snagging on some rocks or weeds!

Use a 3:16 mission fish, its weedless and thats THE bait for doing it with, I would stick with pearl white, but use whatever color you think you will get bit on
