Nitro Boats

I'm lookin at a 2010 Nitro Z-7 with a 150 Optimax, and also takin a look at a Stratos 18'6" boat with a Yamaha 115. What is everybodies opinion on both boats in general??

Welcome to the site. Nitro has come a long ways in the boat business. I have a buddy who's wife works for Tracker Marine, and they are always in the know about what is going on with Nitro. Early this year they had a meeting and said they wanted a market share in the boat business so they were going to knock big money off of their boat prices, while everyone (Genmar for example) is hurting from the economy Nitro is seeing it as a chance to make big gains towards becoming one of the premier boats out there. Of course price doesn't have as much to do with that as quality does but Nitro has come a long ways in quality as well. I am in the new boat market myself and Z8 and Z9 are 2 of the boats that we are looking at.

I would look at the Nitro with the 150. I think maybe the 115 on the Stratos would be under powered. Just mt 2 cents worth.

bcklash is right the Stratos (which is also a good boat) is very underpowered with a 115 on it. Stratos isn't an extremely heavy boat but they aren't extremelt light either and that boat is rated for at least a 150 I am sure, and I don't think that a 115 would cut it.

I'm assuming it a Stratos 285XT you're looking at. Or is it the 185?

Hey C rig how ya doing bud.

If that Stratos is the newer 18'6" bote its rated for 115......I still cant figure out there reasoning ofr this. BnW botes did a reveiw on the boat and I was in awe as to why as they where..The Z7 is definately a superior bote....Nitro has become a huge player in the bote market and the neweer designed Nitro's are definately worth it. I have been helping a buddy set his up and I will tell ya after a little wrench turning and getting his prop Bal/blueprinted the Z7 really WAKES UP.

I've heard some really good things about the Z series Nitros but I own an 18'6" Stratos. It is really a great boat at a fair price. Not as much cost or extras as some, but a solid and quick boat. I've added a lot of the small things pretty easily like livewell pumpout, etc.

I'm not sure which Stratos model it is, some of the old 285s (Magnums) as well as the 2010 model are rated for 175 but most are rated for 150. I think the 186 model is rated for 115 and I think it might be a lighter build than the 285.
