Default NoFear's Revenge

I stopped off at Gander tonight after work, just to see what their Quicksilver DFI oil was running. I usually get the Mercury Optimax Oil for around $32 per gallon, but I've heard you can run the "cheaper" Quicksilver stuff with no ill effects. Their website had it listed for $30, so I was hopeful about getting a good deal.

The bastages were selling it for $40! Grrrrr....

So as I stomped towards the door, something caught my eye. A "Bargain Bin" full of piles and piles of "junk." The sign said "75% off Lowest Price." These items were already marked down what looked to be 40%-50%, so I figured it was worth a look.

20 minutes later, I walked out of the store with:

2 Rapala MR-9 Minnow Rap - Bleeding Copper Flash
2 Rapala MR-9 Minnow Rap - Hot Steel
2 Rapala MR-9 Minnow Rap - Bleeding Hot Olive

2 Bomber Model A - Gold Chrome / Fluorescent Orange

1 Krocodile Spoon, 1/2 oz - Brown Trout

3 Brass C-Rig Weights, 3/4 oz.

2 Jars of YUM Trout Paste

1 7-pack Owner Sz. 2 Drop Shot Hooks
3 7-pack Owner Sz. 1 Drop Shot Hooks
1 7-pack Owner 1/0 Drop Shot Hooks
3 4-pack Owner Sz. 1 Twist Lock Hooks
5 4-pack Owner 1/0 Twist Lock Hooks

And the best part was, I got all of it for $22.46.

The cranks and spoon will come in handy trolling at Dale. As for the trout paste, I might hit the tailwaters below Dale for a day in May. Heck, if I get really desperate, I could even smear a little of it on my Smallie lures for scent.

I've never tried Owner hooks before, but they come highly recommended, and since I've made drop shot a real target this year (I just bought 60 drop shot weights), this was a timely find.

I did a little experimenting with various hooks at BPS once (ok, I sat on the isle floor and molested their hooks for an hour once)....

I found owner to be the sharpest. This was just a bit before trokar came out, but I don't consider those to be cost effective anyway.

Nice haul Nofear!...lol....bleeding hot olive....why does that sound so dirty?
Question?..If the site said 30 and the store said 40,would they not do a price match if you printed out the ad off the computer and brought it up...Bps did that with my Qualifier.

That is a serious haul for just over 20 bucks. As for the oil, I run cheap ole johnson evinrude(10 bucks a gal at wal mart) with no ill effects either. And with as much oil as we go through around here it definitley saves money.

Sounds like the ol' "Bait and Switch" worked out perfectly for the Monkey. Not a bad deal for $22.
