Default spring has sprang

yep tis dat time again.. time to mow the grass and put in the garden.
i have an amazing crop of wild onions growing in the yard-think chive like plants- after mowing them down. i felt as if i had chopped a 5 gallon bucket of onions..

now fer gettin dirty
problem is most of the stuff i grow comes in seed form only.i have two tables covered in pans full of seedlin wafers.
some are a mild type of habanreo peppers.i have some purple and yellow bell peppers. i have 2 dozen white tomatoe plants i need to transplant in to the bigger square planter pots.i am going to try to grow some caped ground cherries this year..

the garden is almost all in waiting on some squash seeds right now..

don't even get me started about my rose bushes...

what all you thought i did was fish?.. one must have a hobby ya know...

Hey Zook I love to garden too. When I was married I had about a half acre planted in my mother-in-laws back yard. Loved it when the seed catalogs came. Did you ever grow Big Jim peppers? A mild very long pepper. Now my Troy built sits unused. I used to till gardens on the side. Maybe I should do that again.

Still a little early for me to start seeds. Rose bushes are just putting out leaves. I spent a couple hours over the weekend trying to cut and stack pine limbs that went down with the snowstorms. I've got one 5'x15' stack (combo of old and new limbs) and another 2'x20' and I'm not half way done.

Well, shoot. I didn't know you guys were all about gardening. I spend a lot of time monkeying with my lawn, mums, day lilies, rose bushes, and peonies (and other stuff I don't even know the name of which I inherited from the previous owner).

Just this past weekend I put a yard of compost out on my lawn and overseeded heavily. Gonna outrace the weeds to the sun this year. Should be beautiful by May.

explain "yard of compost" or is that mulch??

mind you it is a good idea to use pine straw to mulch against the house.
wood mulch around plants away from the house..i said wood not bark.. wood mulch could contain termites.. now the mulch i get is specially treated and colored.i can not say what other places have for mulch- the reason i said this...

Just now getting to where i can do something with our yard. In bad need of about 20 tri-axle loads of dirt to even out yards, front and back. got to get a few more fruit trees too. Then if there is time, plant the rose bushes, shrubs, etc. Garden will have to wait till next year i think. Too much "other" things to do first on the new house.

Zooker its darn good to see ya back posting again buddy. I too do a bit of gardening....mostly chili peppers and tomatos......Our property has plum trees, mulberry trees a dwarf pear tree and a fig tree that produces big ol fist sized figs every year.....plus a couple of pecan trees the tornado didn't knock down, and we won't even get into the plants and flowers that someone went nuts with around the place....somethings always blooming from spring till late fall. We love workin in the yard.

A man must know his flowers if he ever hopes for peace with his women.

Helps to know your gold, silver, and dimonds too for when you really screw up.

Roses are great. Women who prefer daisies or lilies or some other 2nd rate flower just annoy me.
Me? I prefer Lily Pads

For those of you less edmukated guys. Here's what the meanings accosiated the differen't roses you give.

http://www.rkdn.org/roses/colors.asp

Though, I aint quite sure what they mean by unconcious beauty. That would suit many of my most succesful dates.

Why, Donnie, I must say, you just impressed me! I didn't click the link though, I've sent enough roses, for enough reasons, over the years, I know em by heart
We need to come up with a new color. One that says, in no uncertain terms, "I just want some........"
