Default WW2 fishing

My father was an electritians mate on a gasoline tanker in the Pacific during the last couple years of World War 2. These are some pics of some of the crew fishing off of the tanker.

This is a picture of my father, second from left, and some guys in the guts of the ship. He never really saw any combat that I know of, he really never talked much about it. But Mama says he used to tell her about how it would mess with his head bad working down in the ship while they were navagating areas where ships had been known to hit mines. I imagine it did. I'd think you'd have to have a true set of cohonies to work in the guts of a ship loaded with gasoline while going through areas like that and not go crazy every time you hear a bump.

Love the pictures. Especially the oceanic white tip (pic #2)...man, it's just a baby, but those things get HUGE.

A salute to your dad!

Nice pics stick. My dad was on troop transport back then. His ship was hit with a Kamakazi. He got a Purple Heart for burn injuries. Told me a few stories. Sometimes he would ride the landing craft to unload the Marines.

Thank you. Yep I'm very proud of him. He was a heck of a man. I'm very poud of all the others that have served in our military too. Our country owes them a lot more than we could ever repay. Certainly more than they get.

Stick I love these pictures. Today would have been my dads 76th birthday, today is also the day we buried him 2 years ago with full miltary honors. One of the proudest moments in my life is when they folded that flag and handed to me.

We have alot to be thankful for because of men like our fathers.

Thanks 1/4 stick for posting those pictures it helped me get thru a rough day and stop feeling sorry for myself and be proud again.

stick, make sure those pictures are safe forever... maybe even look into getting copies and storing them somewhere else. I would venture to guess they are the most "valuable" thing you own, I know they would be if hey were mine... Thanks for sharing!

Great pics stick. Your right, our military men and women don't get no where near the respect they deserve anymore.
