Default One bite but it was definitely worth it

I went to my favorite spot to fish after work. I was a bit reluctant as I had been skunked the last two times I went. The evening started out the same as the last two visits. Not one single bite in an hour and a half.

I was about to pack it up but decided to got to the south end of the pond to fish just a bit longer. I mean, what else am I gonna do when I get home? Another hour goes by and still not even a nibble. I finally decided to go home feeling a bit down. As I was reeling in my line and when the lure was only about 6 inches under the surface, a rather large mass came from the depths below and engulfed my plastic Zoom crawdad. I didn't get a good look at it since it happened so fast and I wasn't really paying attention.

After about a minute or so, I get the bait thief back to the surface and it is huge. I lip her and head to the bank where I can put her on the scale that I bought and to have the bank fisherman take my photo. It took me a while to weigh her because she just wouldn't quit flopping around. She topped out at 8 lbs 6 oz. This is the biggest I have caught in this pond.

So in less than a week, I have caught the biggest fish in both my favorite ponds (8+ lbs and 11 lbs). I am thinking about heading to Georgia today to play the lottery.

If I caught that kind of hawg in Southern indiana, she would have been released to the taxidermist.

Beautiful fish!!

I was waiting on a 5 for so long. Now it seems like they are jumping in my boat. I am thinking about the next one because, you know, everything comes in threes.

Always. The only time I keep a bass is when I am going to eat it (only on church fishing outings - fish fry) or when it was gut hooked and the bass was not going to survive (which has only happened one time).

Congrats!

Biggest bass I have so far-a little over 8-came literally on the last cast of the day one November evening. It is always worth one more cast!
