Default Yard Work...

...is so much more fun in 97 degree, 106 heat index, weather. I think I'm going to weed whack in shorts, even though it's less painful in jeans...

Man this summer has been brutal... we've had as many days in the 90s in the last week as we normally do all summer!

Even the A/C set high on 76 feels great!

Stay Cool,
BB

I'm building a patio for my momma before I hit the books. Moving a couple pallets of stone around. Some stones are 4x5 x 2". Gotta always be careful cause they will cause a lifetime of back injuries if you try to bulldog it. The last pallet I moved in the middle of the day and ended up getting heat sick.

I do yard work as a job, and almost always you cant help but have to do some sort of work in the midday. You do get used to it, but sunscreen/sunglasses and WATER is a must.

Definitely, I got sunglasses, sunscreen, and a water bottle full of iced tea.

I got extreeeemely lucky this summer....My wife opted to pay a crew to mow our yard!
Using a push mower on a good size of property and a 5' ditch in your front yard is rough....It would usually take me 2 hours to mow/weed eat.
Pay these guys 60 bucks a month and they knock it out flawlessly in 20 minutes...Ive never seen em in person!
Never had this luxury before and its spoiling me!

Plus they remove the fallen limbs and the trash blown in from the road....I usually just mow over it

Hey texasbasser-it is still better than last summer!

We had 60 100+ degree days last summer. This summer we haven't hit 95 I don't think

I like to call that mulch. I've also developed a cutting technique where I start cutting from the center out, blowing the trimmings out toward the fence and under the shrubs around the house. Let the grass get tall enough before your first cut and work it to the fence and let it pile up against the fence... no more weed eatting the fence.

I was cutting the grass twice a week until last week. I have a small yard so it's no big deal. Haven't had to cut it since last week. It's burning up. I won't waste money to water it. Sounds like you got a good plan there 1/4 stick.

I bought a riding mower for down here. The yard is too big to try to push mow and the rider makes it easy even in the middle of the day. Weed wacking still sucks especially around the fence. It's only 94 here today with a heat index of 104 so that's not bad.

Did you get a mower yet Boss?

All i have to say is be thankful you don't live on a farm and have to weedeat the fence rows each month. It gets really rough when you get into some manure along the fence row.

officially it was 100 degrees today in ft. payne, al. but i saw on one of the bank clocks it was 102, factor the humidity, felt like some where around 105. and yes i work outside all day. when we are paving in this heat, we are also dealing with asphalt with temps of 350 plus degrees. it is HOT out there gang, drink plenty of fluids and find shade when oyu can.

Didn't rain here today... But I spent three hours weed whacking... I filled it up twice, and has to spool up some more trimmer line once, but I finally got everything done.

Sitting here dreading going to cut the grass. I have 3 acres to cut but it only takes an hour with my mower. Still hot as he!! out there.

2.5 acres with a mobile home that we let my brother-in-law live in. My yard is half acre but the BAD BOY mower works it good.

I like it pretty well but they have a newer one that's more X-Mark like. As in sitting lower to the ground. I slid off the end of my culvert at the driveway last time I cut with it and if I hadn't committed to driving on down over it I would have turned it over. NO ROPS either. That woke me up real good.

Mine is a 5200 Lightning Z 26hp Kawasaki Liquid Cooled.
