Default Big 'ol cat!!!

Hey guys, my friend in 'Bama just email some pics of a cat fish his little brother caught (he's 10). They didn't have a measuring tape or anything, but here it is! They said it's a channel cat.. looks more like a flat head to me though.

Here's tha pics.

What kind y'all think it is, and how heavy you think it went?

Hate that hat though.....

I'd go with flathead and venture a guess in the 40-50 pound range. If you believe it is a channel cat probably should get game and wildlife to check it out because the state record for Alabama is 40lbs.

I saw that too.... I let him know, he said he'd check it out.. if nothing else, it's a child record.

I found out they where in NC at the time when he caught it.. state record there is only 15lb!!

If it's a channel.. it IS a state record no doubt.

its not a channel. tail isnt forked and i dont really see any dark spots which are key features of channel cats. mainly the forked tail. nice catch nonetheless

Yep, definitely not a channel cat. I'm pretty sure it's a flathead, which means no record since they get A LOT bigger than that.

That's one heck of a catfish....and there ain't nothin wrong with that hat!
Nobody's gonna make you wear it.

Makes me think I was watching river monsters last night and there was a fish even bigger than that with huge teeth....not a river I'd wanna wade into.

It is a flathead about 35-42 lbs

Nice catch... I bet there some hooping and holwering before that was landed.
