Default Expensive lesson learned

Strap down your gear on your boat!

Sadly it is something I know, but chose to ignore yesterday. On Monday I got my new Revo STX in the mail. I ended up pairing it on a Clarus 7'6" and spooling it with 15lbs seaguar. It WAS meant to be a new jig rig for me. On the water yesterday I was moving on plane when I hit a wave. It wasn't a big wave and I didn't hit it any harder than normal. I got to watch my combo bounce once and then disappear over the side. I then spent the next 2 hours dragging a swimbait on the bottom in 45' of water in hope of retrieving it with no luck.
I probably wouldn't be as mad at myself if I hadn't set th erod on top of my straps when I went to move.
So due to stupidity, I spent about $120 per hour to have a combo.

That's terrible. I'll go one step further and suggest something I don't do but should. Keep your rods strapped down on the deck when you are not using them. I did lose one over the side once. I don't remember if I kicked it over, bumped it while opening a lid, or hooked it when casting. I did get lucky and retrieved that one.

Terrible. Makes your whole day bad. Maybe homeowners will help out. I've lost two so far but I was in shallow water. Got them back. Didn't get back the side plate that flew off my Revo Prem.

Cassidy, I'm sure you'll believe me when I tell you that we all have moments and decisions we wish we could go back and re-do. It seems that screwing up, and feeling bad about it, is part of being human. Many times, that last, little bit of effort to stop and make sure everything is taken care of is all that stands between us and disaster. That being said, bad things will still happen, out of pure bad luck.

Man Cass, that really sucks.

I believe every combo lost over the side of a boat is the doing of the baitmonkey.

Dude...that totally sucks. I wish I could say that it's never happened to me, but I can't. I lost a brand new rig (never even test casted) out of a boat in a super windy takeoff one morning. The worst part is that it was in a tournament, and the guy who I was riding with wouldn't even listen to a word about finding it.
