Default Filters and digital cameras?

I've got quite an array of filters which I've used for many years shooting slide film with my 35mm SLR film camera. Now that I'm using my new Digital Nikon D90 camera, I'm wondering if those same filters can be used in the same way as with my film camera. Such as my polerizor filters, my split neutral density filters, and so forth?

Of course they can, Keith. You'll just need to get the filter size difference (if any) matched up with an adapter ring.

Yep.

I've yet to get any filters. There's just so much stuff I need more.

Thanks for the replies. I had one guy tell me he uses his filters often, especially polerizers and split neuttral desity, but he does not use his warming filters as he said that coould confuse the camera when it comes to the white balance. He preferes to do it in photo shop instead. Thats cool and all unless your using a lab to develope your pics which is what most folks do.

Anthony, my belief is that there is one filter you can not do without, period.

That is a UV filter. And while a good one can be somewhat expensive, it is much cheaper than the lens it protects. Oh yeah, and it also filters out UV rays, making your outdoors shots much crisper.

Yeah, I know bryce, I do need a couple UV filters...

Keith, I think you could probably do warming effects just by choosing the wrong white balance in your camera. Like picking "cloudy" or whatever when it's sunny. Or like the guy said, in photoshop, especially if you shoot in RAW.

Well this digital photography is very new to me and a lot of the terminology I still don't understand. I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to photography. I've always shot film up till now. Usually shot slide film. Just got this digital camera about a year ago. Not really sure exactly what white balance is. Sheesh
