Default big bass in tourney

caught my largest tournament bass wednesday night. She was 9 lbs 1 oz and hit a chompers black tube in 4' of water. Released alive to fight again another day (after she spawns hopefully).

Nice fish! Congrats. Your heart had to be in your throat when you got a look at her at the side of the boat. That's when you hope your netman is on his game, or were you alone which makes it even worse?

Well i was alone, in my scamp...
brought her to the right side of the boat, net was on left side, didnt realize how big she was either, thought maybe 6 at the time. She was ready so i just lipped her. Then i brought it up, and thought well maybe its a 7 or so. Then i noticed it was kind of heavy lol, my friend who was fishing not far from me yelled and asked how big it was, and my reply was I don't know, Its BIG lol. I had some spring type scales in the boat and on those it was almost 8 and i knew they weight light, but i was still surprised when she was over 9 lbs.

Yesterday i went back prefishing for this wednesdays tourney at the same lake, caught a few nice fish on a spider jig on my spinning gear, 4 in one spot one fish over 4 lbs and 3 about 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. Then i got to the place i caught the 9-1 and hooked into a good one. Since the big fish was full of eggs and possibly spawning I was scared that i had hooked her again, but on 10 lb fireline and my spinning reel this time lol, but it was just a 4 lb+ fish. After hooking the second 4 lb fish i put the jig up and looked for another pattern. The lake is small and if you catch them too much on sunday its hard to repeat on Wed for the tourney lol.
