Its been slow as hell at work..I got off a little early yesterday,and my boss was gonna let me leave again now.The weather is great for fishing right now!!..I was gonna get to go home and slip out for a bit...

However as I was closing my computer and literally grabbing my keys!..One of the employees came in my office and ask me to look at the color scanner in the graphics room.

Two employees were trying to do a color scan and somehow manage to lose/delete the paths on the server

..I cant find them...I dont know why they even messed with the paths

''What the **** did ya'll do?''.....To which they both said it was already like that when they tried to scan

...Which I called bull**** !

One of them was trying to look through the properties and select a new host.
He was setting it to SMB...I asked ''Do even know what SMB means?''
''Uh?,No''
''Neither do I,So how about you quit ****ing with it?''

Called the IT guy...He cant find the path in the server,IP is correct,but the path has disappeared..So now,until its fixed,we have to do it the old way,which is a paaaaaaaaain.

The company who set it up,will call me in an hour to walk me through it.....So now I cant leave,and have to clean this mess up......Its 66 degress outside,partly cloudy,pressure is 29.6 and falling

Im pretty furious and had to rant while Im waiting an hour for a phone call.

what type of scanner? What is the OS of the machines that can not talk to the scanner? When you say that the server paths are gone are you saying the scanner queues?
SMB is usally used for encrypted traffic.

Server Message Block (SMB) is the resource-sharing protocol that is supported by many Microsoft operating systems; it is the basis of network basic input/output system (NetBIOS) and of many other protocols. SMB signing authenticates both the user and the server that hosts the data. If either side fails the authentication process, data transmission will not occur.

Yes...the entire queue is missing.Its an OCE scanner and they set up all the software for us to use.....Im not messing with it anymore....I just went through and all the IP/DNS/GW numbers and addresses are still matching correctly..I have an Oce repair guy here looking at it,but he cant find it either or make a new one,and I have to wait till their main IT gets back from vacation.
I tried to create a new queue/path for the files....No luck.
I dont know what the deal is....

I hope that I am not the only one who understood only two things from Waffle's rant. I understood he can't leave work early and he is mad! Sorry, Waffle but I don't speak that other language that you do.

unless it turns out to be a connectivity issue, (can the server ping it?) it sounds like a delete/reinstall would be the fastest. But that is why you have a contract, so not touching it is probably the best plan.

I didnt mean to sound all techy...Bascially someone messed with my equipment who shouldnt have..Screwed the be-jesus out of it...He got to go home early..I have to stay and fix it....Im just a little livid about it.

understand oyur madness waffle. i am having issues wiht my laptop. somehow, i think facebook is the culprit, has a virus. i am on the OLD (30 yrs old) desk top now. i hate it when someone like me (computer challenged) has a problem with his/hers computer. just leave it alone if you don't know what you are doing. yes i tried ot see if i could "fix" it myself only to make it worse. lisa's nephew who has a degree fo0rm BAMA is gonna hook me back up this weekend. be careful on facebook gang. LOTS fo nasty stuff on that site.
