Welcome to the forum!
The best way to find out is to throw it. I like a jitterbug more than anything when it comes to topwater at night, but there is no reason a devil's horse wouldn't work too. |

devilshorse is a slender stick bait that floats and when you rip it or retrieve it a blade in the front and one in the back spin..I see people throw it out and reel it in leaving a small wake, but the stop and twitch motion like walking the dog is effective, or pulling it a foot or so and stopping, repeat..its a old school bait

Funny this should come up-the other night I was digging around in the garage and found one. Stuck it in the topwater box. I didn't make the connection until I went into the garage and saw the boat-that reminded me.

I carry one but dont' have much faith in it compared to the buzz bait and pop r
when they are snapping at the buzzbait I like to throw that all day, and my arm pays for it that nite . Theres nothing like throwing that buzzbait and hit stickups and hold on n wait! |

You got that right!
I'm experimenting on getting a squeakier sound out of a buzzbait. I've got some aluminum rivets soaking in bleach to get them rusty, and it looks promising. |

i've caught a lot of bass on a dying flutter, which is very similar to a devil's horse.
(never tried them at night) |

I have worn out more rivets than i can remember, but heres a real easy trick, esp on the way to the lake, we used to tie our new buzzbaits to the antenna and after just a short time they are clanking and sqeaking just the way you want them, I know cars now dont have many antennas showing but I know you can hold them out or if you have compressed air with a nozzle you can break them in, btw I onced fished with a guy that had 7 trailer hooks on his buzzbait..can you believe it?
I will run one at the most, the pros will tell you to run 1 or two |
