Default clear water bass

This ones pretty long but here it goes.I need some help,I , as ya'll know fish a 150 acre reservoir. The lake is called ''CRYSTAL LAKES'',does that give you any idea on how clear it is?Well there is allot of covor such as cypress trees, lilly's,hydrilla, and coontail.I'ts a real bassmaster/water moccasin looking place! Well the first time I fished it with my dad,we caught about 12,on senko's black with red fleck.Later on in day 2 other guys showed up they autamatically hit the other end of the lake.Well shame on me I worked my way to them.after 5 minutes that they had been there they had caught 4[it took us 3 hours to catch our's]I then ask them what were they useing, they said,''wacky worms''.A couple weeks later we went agian, the same dudes were their. After about 30 minutes they had caught 24 fish,I ask what they were useing and they said,''jigs''.I thought that they would've said wacky but they did'nt, the conditions were the same. That day they ended catching 35,us 9[kreatures,senko's]. Do you guys have any idea's on what I could do to jack my skill's up.

dont get to hung up on guys that can catch more than you or dad, theres always fishermen out there that have the feel for the line and out catch everyone..just enjoy your time on the water and learn as you go...
as far as the wacky worm i would imagine they use a thin 4 inch worm with the hook right in the middle. letting it twitch as you either vibrate the rod tip or simply move your rod tip up a inch or so..the same technique was probably used for their jig catching day.. its trial and error, try both and see what they want that day, and replicate it as the day goes on..later you'll learn to make adjustments due to weather conditions.

JB, I think you are going to be an asset around here .

That might have been one of those days where a jig worked and a wacky rig didn't, or they prefer to fish jigs. In any given body of water you can usually catch fish on more than one bait-usually. There are days when they only want one thing and a particular color of that one thing. As JB said, a lot of time it is trial and error. If this doesn't work, try that. Based on your description I would use more natural/darker colors in that clear water-watermelon seed, green pumpkin, watermelon red flake for soft plastics and shad colors for cranks and spinnerbaits. However, don't hesitate to experiment. I can recall catching bass is extremely clear water on a pink trickworm.

Try using fluorocarbon line 8-10 lb test, downsize your lures, pick natural colors as Rebbasser pointed out, and move your spinnerbaits, lipless cranks or superflukes quickly so as to not give the bass a real good look in this clear water. Wacky rig senkos and watch your line closely as they are falling.

iv had my best days just experementing on new things when others that iv come to rely on dont work. and as far as the colors to use, try downsizing and using some soft plastics (i get the best on 4" senkos and 2 1/2" grubs) that have a natural color with a bright green tail, now i wouldnt say any of these bodies of water were exactly "crystal" clear though.
good luck

im sure those guys have spent many hours on the lake just doing trial and error. they probally were using a different bait that same day and then changed over to the jig and started hammering them. thats what you need to do, trial and error, see what the bass want. i would use spinnerbaits, and worms and lizards around structure. just stick to the basics and remember to have fun. its not about catching a bunch of bass(unless your in a tourny ;D) but just have fun.

Did you SEE what they were using? Or were they just telling you something, anything but the truth? There are many who wouldn't tell you anything, or lie on a Bible just to keep from saying anything. Were they fishing the same spot again? And if so was this a spot you and your dad had worked very thoroughly? Lot's of factors as to why they caught more than you did. But keep working on it, and perhaps you'll be the one catching 50 and other folks asking you what you're using
