chartruse color works great in any water clarity. also for fishing ponds, use a mini spinner like the ones booyah makes. you will tear em up.

use a trailer only if thy are short striking white works in clear water. vary the speed spinner baits are like an idiot bait-lipless bait-they can cover a lot of water fast the speed is about 70% of the reason bass will grab one spinner bait and not another. varying the depth you fish the blade is also important every thing from dragging on the bottom to bulging at the surface.
i find that adding a grub to the hook makes it a bigger profile pulse it adds a bunch of vibration. if you are buying a blade look for a thin wire bait -strike king - the thicker the wire the less vibration it gives off. yes bass will straighten it out like nothing. when playing a bass keep the rod tip IN the water. if the bass jumps. he more than likly will come off.

There have been volumes written on spinnerbaits-I always have one tied on.

Tips-these are general rules of thumb I use:

Sunny-silver blades
Cloudy-gold or copper blades

Use shad/natural colors in clear water, I add chartreuse in stained water.

Water clarity:

Gin clear-I use double willow blades
Stained-I use a tandem setup-a small Colorado(teardrop) blade in front of a bigger willow blade.
Muddy-A big, single Colorado blade. Puts off more vibration that either of the other two setups.

I use a trailer hook about 90% of the time, but will also use a curl tailed grub or split tailed trailer on occasion. Hope this helps!
