It's getting warmer!! Was in the 40's yesterday, and barly got below freezing yesterday. BUT, the highs are suppose to be above freezing the rest of the year!!

Can't wait to go fishin again!!

Highs above freezing for the rest of the year? I'll take the "I doubt it" side of that bet.

It's quite common to still have snowstorms here in March and even in April once in a great while.

Also, isn't there a bass season in WI like there is here in MN?

I was gonna say something about "for the rest of the year" but didn't want to bum Sammy out too much.

AND a fishing season! Welcome to the north Sammy!

Either way, I can guarantee I'll be fishing before sammy, especially if it ever rains to melt the ice cause this 40 degree weather isn't gonna melt 20" of ice quickly...

I'll take that be as well!!! 1-2 more snow storms at the least.

Yes Waterboy, they are like most of the other northern states and have fishing seasons (for bass). I posted it on another thread for him to review, but like most teenagers he's going to disregard it (like another one on here awhile ago from MI).

It's gettin warmer here too but you can be sure the deep freeze will be back! I saw it snow here on Mothers Day one time. March is one month I hate. First it's treats you like an old friend and the next it kicks you right in the nuts. But the warmer weather whhile it lasts is great appreciated.

It can get nasty in March, there's no doubt about it. But the best thing about it is that if you get a snow in March, it probably won't be around long before it melts because the next day may be 75 degrees.

It was 56 here today.. Everything is either snow or mud..nothing in between. Hopefully I'll be ice fishing Saturday in a sweatshirt or less..

I for one dont like this weather... its too soon. I had to back my pre spawn trip up two weeks. Last year it was so cold so late in the winter, the water temp at Ky Lake was still in the 40's, making for challenging fishing. I am afraid that if it warms up too fast, I will get there and they will already be on the beds...

What can I say, I'm an Optimist!

It's suppose to get colder with weekend, but, nothing like before.

I havn't heard anything about a bass season, so far as I know it's when ever the ice of clear enough to cast.

Um, you might want to check the regulations first. Link here. It is the fisherman's responsibility to know the regs of any state or special regs for any body of water within a state. Seasons are just a tiny part of it. There are potentially tons of other regs that could vary from state to state.

I'd have to agree with WB, just because you haven't heard anything about, doesn't make it go away. A game warden wouldn't give a crap what you have or have not heard about. And game wardens don't like assumptions, especially asinine ones.

It seems to me, in general inland waters, you can't fish for bass from the 1st Sunday in March until the first Saturday in May. Assuming you're ice is gone sometime in March, you'll still have to wait until May to fish. In the "northern zone" it's catch and release only from the 1st Saturday in May until the endish of June. But since you probably do catch and release anyways, you don't need to worry about the C&R vs Harvest times.

It seems like they've got a restriction on fishing for the spawning season, and a C&R for the end of the spawn in this "northern zone." This is similar to what Michigan does (while we don't have a bass season in Ohio). They have their regular off season and then C&R only for most of the spawn.
