Default Getting close update

This is a followup from last weeks post. The lake is still 80 % covered with ice, but thawing quickly. There were however decent open water areas in the NW portions of the lake though which are accessable by foot so I went on out to wet a line. Walking around the lake shoreline my fears of a heavy fish kill due to the harsh winter may be proving to be true. Still too early to tell untill all the ice clears off, but this photo taken at the boat launch shows what I found in several pockets along the shoreline wherever I walked. It doesn't look good so far.

Forgot to mention there was a little good news though. While I didn't catch anything, I did watch a small bass come up and mouths the trailer on my chatterbait. And I didn't see any dead bass over two pounds which is encouraging. I'll know more when the lake is ice free.

Man, that really sucks! We had similar fish kills last spring and it REALLY hurt two of my favorite lakes. I hope it isn't too bad.
