Default Truck rant

So last summer I lost the rear main seal in my F-150 Rearend. So 500.00 dollars later new seal whole nine yards. Well apparentlly sometime this winter I lost the vent hose on the rearend and between backing boat in water and rain I filled my rearend up with water..... So water and gears dont mix 1500.00 later complete rebuild with a 3 month warranty. Well 3 weeks after I get it out of the shop I get this same shudder in my rearend again take it to the shop and they say have it here Monday and we will see whats wrong.... This is all on a 03 FX4 F-150 with 90,000 miles &*%^&%^*((^* shoudda bought a Nissan.... I just hope they stand behind it or we gonna have a BIG PROBLEM... Sorry I am having a crappy day.

Yea find yourself a new mechanic....

bummer that the seal went the first time...

real bummer that the vent tube came off.... Since your rear end is underwater sometimes from launching boats, etc. you need to tell them to check the oil every motor oil change, if not they wont.

I have a good idea that the shutter is from not adding friction modifier to the diff because FX4's have limited slip diffs. Also they need to be broke in when new. If not they shutter expecially around turns in a parking lot....

I feel bad for ya... problems like these give mfg's a bad name...which in fact its untrained tech's.

When you get your problems taken care of that rear end is virtually bullet proof. 9.75 dia. ring gear etc. just as much strength of a dana 60.

Hope ya have good luck bud.

Had the same issue on a Ford Ranger. 175 at the junk yard and a day on my back had it fixed.

It was a valuable lesson to learn how to turn wrenches..

Yea that is a bummer..

I think long as the brakes are the same you can swap any year on a F-150.
