1. Always remember to put line in reel.
2. Always remember to cast towards the water. 3. Always remember to put drain plug in. 4. Always remember to tie hook and bait onto line. (refer to #1) 5. Always watch for GATORS. 6. If not following #5, see #7. 7. Make sure significant other has good life insurance policy on you. More to come Im sure. 8) |

Fish as much as you can and learn how to cast, flip, pitch, underhand, and sidearm very accuratly and with as least much intry splash as possible. Each one will be used for different situations.Practice casting at your house when ever you can't get out to the lake and you don't have anything to do,you might get some funny looks from your neighbors, but when you do go out for a day of fishing you'll be ready.
Always wash your hands really well before touching your baits. The oils and smells will turn the fish away from your lures, use scents to help cover up any foul smells and tastes that you may put on the lure. just the bait touching the ground or the floor of the boat can put different smells on the lure. Learn how to work each bait properly and effectivly, your favorite lure might not always be what they want so you have to be versitile, and make the best out of any situation. Study how weather patterns, time of year, waterclarity and water tempeture, can effect what type of fishing pattern and lure you need to use. Use the right line and equiptment for the job,if your pitching into heavy cover use a heavier rod and line. If your fishing clear water with just grass in it maybe try lighter line are flurocarbin. Use the right set up for the location you are fishing,so you can get bit and not lose are break off a good fish. Learn as much as you can about tha Bass and remember to have fun and be patient with it, it don't come over night but it will come alot easier if you don't get mad every time you miss are lose a fish are if you don't want to quite everytime you pop your line are backlash your reel. The rest is up to you, Good luck, PHIL G.

Fish long and often, and don't be a fair weather fisherman. Fish can be and are being caught in the dead of winter.

One of the factors that will make you a great fisherman, is patience. I've been fishing, when nearly every fisherman was hooked up with a big fish (school of Kings), except for me...
I almost broke to tears, because of what was happening. There I was, standing, seeing people having a great time catching smokers, reeling them in, gaffing them, weighing, taking pictures, releasing, etc. But, I didn't even get a tug on the line... ...but, I knew that my time would come. I spent a few days fishing non-stop. I researched what I was fishing for, asked questions, and talked to the local experienced fishermen. On some days, I didn't even catch anything but bait! Finally, after exhausting myself to do the thing I love the most, I caught my first smoker. So, patience and experience is the key that will unlock the door to a dream. ~GENERAL fishing tip, seaphantom |

1-Instead of trying to learn to fish a dozen different baits at one time, start with the basics and learn them until you feel comfortable to try something else.
2-Try not to get too discouraged even on the days when the fish have lock jaw. 3-Have fun! |
