It looks like my buddy might have got some bad information. Everything I am seeing is saying that JoePa is near death and the family is considering removing the ventilator. Regardless of how I feel about Paterno, I feel bad for the family as they are in a spot I think we all hope to never be in.

Your friend got bad information, along with a lot of other people, it was falsely reported.

From what I heard yesterday, the family has been called to his bedside to say their last goodbyes.

Yeah I heard about 8 pm he was gone and then about 9 pm his son Jay had to go on twitter and deny it.

Regardless of what anyone thinks, Joe Paterno at the very least tried to live his life the right way and deserves our prayers, as does his family. Either he made a bad judgment call or didn't, but that is a debate for another day. Nobody can say he wanted what happened to happen.

I am so mad right now.

In his dying days, the mob couldn't be bothered for proof.

No, they had to storm the castle with torches and pitchforks, and deny an old man his life's work.

Some even opined his sudden diagnosis of cancer was probably just an attempt to garner sympathy.

Looks like it was all fake, right?

The things that surfaced in the last 6 months did tarnish his legacy, there is no doubt about that. But I honestly didn't start this thread to spawn another uproar between the two sides of the story, we already had a thread for that a while back. So with that in mind I won't share my opinion on Paterno. Like I said in an earlier post, regardless of how I feel about Paterno my prayers go out to his family.

One thing about it, we can argue back and forth about what we believe but now there is only one person he has to answer to and that guy already knows what happened or didn't happen.

Say what you will about the man, but he was a legend on the field... and nobody can ever take his success away from him. One failure of character does not sum up a person's life.

Tell it to Pete Rose, anyway regardless of what may or may not have happened, I hope his family can find some peace.

You're stuck with Hughesnet?
My condolences go out to you, as well as the Paterno family

I keep visualizing Joe casually walking away with his back to us, waving goodby as though he's saying, goodby and goodluck. I don't know exactly what happened back then and any other time. I have no doubts Joe has his regrets. I just hope Joe had a good long talk with the creator before he departed this world. My thoughts are with his family.

I had Hughesnet for 2 1/2 years.
Then a guy from Syncwave moved in right around the corner from me. He paid Charter to run commercial cable to his house, set up a tower and sends internet over the airwaves for people living nearby.
$45 for 2 MB speed, no shared bandwidth and no download threshhold.

As much as I didn't like Hughesnet, it sure beat dial up!

I think he died from a broken heart. The cancer just accelerated it. Bobby Bowden had it right.

Wow im surprised, I figured Id click on this thread and everyone would be bashing him.

Its a shame his career was tarnished like that. I really believe this whole ordeal really had a role in accelerating his illness.

You were one of the best Joe. RIP

It seems to me that with time, people have for the most part stopped bashing Joe Pa. I think a lot of it was the horror and shock of the allegations made anybody anywhere near the situation radioactive at first.
