Default Fun With Water Photography

Playing around with some fun water photography. I did some shots of fishing lures too, but this one of a Lemon was the only decent shot I got. Just thought I'd share. Gonna try to get some lures shot too.

Thanks guys. This was a fun experiment that I'm going to keep improving on. I did a lot of experimenting today, but didn't come out with any pics I'm going to be able to edit as keepers. But here's a few unedited shots anyways.

Another lemon:

Here's one for all you golfers:

And finally, a lure:

Pretty cool BB. I like the effect on the crank.

And very impressive Stick, not a single stain!

Great photos! Are you using a trigger to catch the action?
I've seen some very elaborate rigs for capturing liquids with multiple flashes and crazy custom triggers. I'm actually getting ready to build a lightning and maybe sound trigger with an Arduino board. I've got the hardware, just need to put it together. I also just bought a 100mm macro lens as well, but haven't used it for macro shots yet. So far it's a great general lens that is tack sharp.

I like the last lemon pic. Somehow the part that's above the waterline reminds me of a girl I used to date.

Chris, I've got one flash unit set up camera right, which I've done a lot of experimenting with to get good lighting. A second one would be very helpful, but I don't have the cash for a second flash, lol. I'm triggering it from my cheapo Chinese Yongnuo wireless triggers.

The camera itself is being triggered by myself with a cable release. It's really all about the timing. I've got more shots of a lemon floating above the water than I care to count, lol.

I'm shooting these with my 100mm Macro at f/11 and 1/200th.

Gave this a try with a black background this morning and boy does it make a difference. There was still some color variation between the background above and below the water, but black is much easier to make black in photoshop than white is to make white.

More to come later... I still can't get one of my jigs to drop right though...
