Default Ticks

Went shore fishing sunday and noticed 2 ticks on my arms. Got home and found 3 more. Mild winter around here did not freeze larva i was told. Other than planting your pants inside your socks and bug repellant what else can one do to avoid them?

Nothing that i really know of just check when you can, like go to bathroom if you want to check and check when you come home. I didn't and got a BAD case of lyme disease. Worst ever back ached every joint hurt for 6 months. Now i check for ticks all the time

Just try to pay attention and try to check for them crawling on you frequently when you're shore fishing. I've found 3 of them crawling on me already this year, thankfully before any of them got attached. My favorite way to avoid ticks is to fish from the boat

Good tick prevention and holds for a week or better on hats and such.
This is for your clothing not your skin so remove the jacket and you remove the smell.
Hang outdoors on a cloths line a while will eliminate scent completely.
Lyme disease is up 35% already this year where I'm at. Once they attach...your infected and just the initial penentrating bite can too.
For $5- $8 bucks a can how can you go wrong.
Haven't found one negative review incluuding my own, to be found. Most are 5 or 4 star reviews.
Good post Cam!
Great thread, bassin!

The best/most effective tick repellant I know of came from my Grandfather....works for me and repels mosquitos as well.

Mix equal parts Original Pine-Sol with water, place in spray bottle and spray away. Not only will you be tick-less but you'll smell like a clean hardwood floor...my wife says it's an aphrodesiac(sp)

Found one on the family jewels last night no idea how long he was there as I was only working on the boat 2night. I got lyme once and every time i find one attached I go to the doctors I guess I should call but it gets old.

And from what I understand in order to pass the infection they have to feed on you for 24+ hrs

Bama, this is no laughing matter in fact I am still kind of shook up from the whole ordeal . I hate those little things so much I almost wanted to burn it off!

All jokes aside those things are a serious problem esp for hunters/fishermen I am exposed to them all the like every day it sucks
