The day started off awfull! The lake I most often fish has no parking lot or launch, but just a sandy beach. I have to nose my pickup into a side road and make a 90 degree turn to get the boat into launch possition. Something went wrong and you see the damage. ARRRRGGHHHHHH
I think, since I wasn't able to see the trailer in total darkness, I jack knifed. So that really ticked me off to no avail. Luckily, I work with a guy who makes and repairs trailers, and he said no big deal. He can get it back up and running. The days fishing was a suprise. The bass don't spawn this early here. But there they were, beds all over the lake. AND, lots of old beds. I was on the water before sunrise, and low and behold, they were really smacking a Spook! Top water don't start this early here either. But this crazy warm spring has changed all the rules. Once the sun rose, I lost the Spook bite and started hitting on other lures. A black/blue jig ruled from there on. Caught two on a J Rig, one on a spinner bait and one on a buzz bait. About 14 in all, but after 10 AM it really knocked off. After 10 AM, I only caught 4 more. Called it a day around 2PM. It felt good to be back on the water again. I lucked out weather wise. Storms were predicted but eveything went north and south. Tempted to go again tomorrow, but I don't know. Trailer as it is, and the wrist is sore. It's hell gettin old. haha Reading the sunday morning paper over a cup of coffee is sounding pretty good.

That's a real drag about your trailer, Keith. But it's great to see you got out on the water anyway and showed a few of those bass who is boss...nicely done!

Sorry about your trailer, but the fishing helps. Great looking fish.

Way to stay focused after the trailer incident. I might have just packed it in mad. Did you pull the boat home on that trailer?

Yes I did. Luckily, I only live a half mile from the lake I was fishing. It followed me home fairly well. But it was a bit off backing it in to the driveway.

Tongue looked a lil on the light side, have him reinforce it,I jacknifed my ranger once due to tractor trailer pulling out in front of me in the rain, didnt bend the main tongue, but bent the area the ball goes into,my mech kacknifed it opposite direction to straighten, that is beyond that.

Looks like a good day on the lake anyway. That may be an excuse to cut away the bent part and add a fold-away tongue if you need space.

Thats an option I'm thinking about, although I don't really need the room. It will all come down to cost of repairs.

Often one can find an older small boat sitting somewhere and you can get it for less than what the trailer is worth,55 gal drum sawzall save the guages etc you have a trailer.
That could be repaired im thinking by sliding larger squared tubing over it and wielding,as for a folding tonque would cost more than what trailer did originally. |

Some solid fish bud! Sorry about the trailer, at least you can get it fixed no problem.

Great day of fishing, those are some chunks, with a sucky 20 seconds of launching (or some other mishap).....sounds like a typical day on the water for me.
